Petite Jacqueline Bistro in Portland, Maine

Despite reading mixed reviews of this fairly new restaurant, Petite Jacqueline, we decided to have dinner there this evening. I try to look through and past reviewers comments and sometimes it works. Tonight was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, start to finish.

I started with a cocktail, "The French Kiss" with Absinthe, Bourbon and 7-Up (yes, it was that strong; it was a sipper), my husband had a local micro-brew. French bread was brought to the table in the classic baguette sleeve, served with perfectly soft, herbed lemon butter. We shared classic French Onion Soup and the Charcuterie Plate which offered a smooth duck liver mousse topped with a bacon gelee. Both were absolutely delicious, as you can see by the clean plates/bowls. Then we had the "Plat du Jour" and tonight was the Entrecote served with two sides - we opted for the Pommes Frites with aioli and ketchup and a Gratin of asparagus and broccoli raab. Both were al dente and delicious. The entire meal, with two drinks each, two appetizers and an entree each, was about $90. We will definitely return AND recommend it to all our guests!
